First Congress AURS 2012
A congress on research and project, or research and university, cannot set aside the specific characteristics of architecture itself, both in the aspects linked directly to thought, as in those more connected to the professional activity. Neither can it forget the general difficulties which accompany all those subjects that are related to research and university; especially the heavy framework of control and evaluation, not only for an objective quality of the research, but also for the assessment of the researchers themselves. But above all, one cannot forget that like any apparatus that moves around research it finally questions us about the nature of the architect's specific thought, a reflection which is set out in the diffuse limit between the visible and the comprehensible fields. A type of thought that replaces the concept of truth for that of unsteadiness, the new paradigm of contemporary science which directs its attention to phenomenology. This specificity places the reflection about the learning process of architecture to the centre of debate regarding university teaching in general.
1. How could research on the architectural project be carried out from university?
2. Which is the most avant-garde and innovative research on current architecture and what is its impact on society?
